In­iti­iert durch das In­sti­tut für un­fall­chir­ur­gi­sche For­schung und Bio­me­ch­naik an der Uni­ver­si­tät Ulm ent­stand im Som­mer­se­met­ser 2006 ein in­ter­ak­ti­ves Tool für die Wir­bel­säu­len­for­schung, wel­ches an­schau­lich den Ver­gleich von ana­to­mi­schen und bio­me­cha­ni­schen Pa­ra­me­tern der Spe­zies Mensch, Schaf, Kalb, Schwein und Kän­guru so­wohl drei­di­men­sio­nal, als auch in Form von Daten­gra­fi­ken, Ta­bel­len und Fo­tos er­mög­licht. Der bis­he­rige Pro­to­typ wird der­zeit (2009) als Webap­pli­ka­tion op­ti­miert, um u.U. als va­lide Pu­bli­ka­tion im Sprin­ger­ver­lag zu er­schei­nen. Ziel des Pro­jekts ist ein leis­tungs­fä­hi­ges Werk­zeug zur Pla­nung und Be­glei­tung von Wirbelsäulenstudien. In the win­ter 2006 in­itia­li­zed by the In­sti­tut für un­fall­chir­ur­gi­sche For­schung und Bio­me­ch­naik in co­ope­ra­tion with the In­sti­tut for me­dia (both at Uni­ver­sity of Ulm) the pro­jects tar­gets the sci­en­ti­fic com­pa­ri­son of hu­man and ani­mal spi­nes. Its an in­ter­ac­tive tool for sci­en­ti­fic and me­di­cal spine stu­dies which enab­les de­tailed com­pa­ri­son of ana­to­mic and bio-mechanic pa­ra­me­ters in­clu­sive 3D vi­sua­liza­tion of sin­gle spines.
